Chinese Pronunciation Extension Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 25, 2026.
This policy covers the “Chinese Pronunciation” Chrome extension by chinesepronunciation.app. The website chinesepronunciation.app has its own policy at chinesepronunciation.app/privacy/.
The short version
The extension does one thing: you select a Chinese word on a page, say it, and get pronunciation feedback. The extension stores nothing and contains no analytics.
What the extension sends
When you press record, the extension sends the word you selected (or the practice sentence you are reading) and your voice recording to our server, which passes them to SpeechSuper, the speech recognition service that scores pronunciation, and returns the result. We do not store recordings.
SpeechSuper states that it deletes the audio right after the analysis. Its privacy policy is at speechsuper.com/privacy.html.
What the extension does not do
- It does not read the pages you visit. The only text it receives is the text you selected to check.
- It does not collect your browsing history, name, email, or location.
- It has no analytics or advertising, and it stores nothing on your computer.
- When you first install it, the extension opens a welcome page on chinesepronunciation.app. That page is covered by the website policy.
Permissions
The extension asks for three permissions, none of which shows an install warning. One adds its item to the right-click menu for selected text. The other two let it show its pronunciation panel on the page where you clicked it, only after your click. Apart from adding its own panel, it does not read or change the page.
What we keep
No recordings and no personal details. Our server keeps only what it needs to count free daily checks.
The speech recognition partner
Pronunciation is scored by SpeechSuper. Their privacy policy states: “After completion, user-submitted audio data is promptly and permanently discarded.” You can read it at speechsuper.com/privacy.html.
Children
The extension is a general-audience language tool and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the extension sends, we will update this page and the effective date above.
