Privacy Policy

This policy covers the website chinesepronunciation.app and the SayMandarin pronunciation checker on its pages. The “Chinese Pronunciation” Chrome extension has its own policy at chinesepronunciation.app/saymandarin-privacy/.

The short version

SayMandarin works without an account, and we never ask for your name or email. When you press record, your voice recording is sent for analysis to SpeechSuper, the speech recognition service that scores your pronunciation, and we do not keep it. The pages of this site use standard analytics tools.

Your voice

Nothing is recorded until you press the record button.

In “Practice the four tones,” your voice is analyzed in your browser and never leaves it. Every other check sends the recording and the text you were asked to say through our server to SpeechSuper, which returns the result. We do not store recordings.

SpeechSuper states that it deletes the audio right after the analysis. Its privacy policy is at speechsuper.com/privacy.html.

What we keep

No recordings and no personal details. Our server only counts free daily checks.

Cookies and analytics

The pages of this site use Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica to understand how the site is used. They set cookies, and Yandex Metrica may also record how pages are used, such as scrolling and clicks. How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The extension’s welcome page also uses Umami Analytics, which does not use cookies.

Children

This site is a general-audience language tool and is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above.
